Ann Arbor-Muskegon-Pentwater

My buddy Brian called to tell me that he'd be teaching at a fine arts camp near Muskegon. He wanted to know if I'd like to come stay with him for a few days and hit up the local disc golf courses. I said "what dates?" I had to rush out due to plans changing here and there. I felt so rushed that I didn't think I'd take any pics while on the road. In the end, I stayed an extra two days and took some relaxing rides and a few photos. Hey, being a teacher has a perk or two. Yeah, exactly two.

The camp had some pretty nice cabins to stay in. Very quiet and low key. People kinda freaked out when I came rolling though. I guess people on motorcycles just have a bad rep. The last day I was there, I took off to head up the West coast of Michigan and hit some State and National Forest land 2-tracks while out. I looked at the map and headed North, then East. Saw a sign that said "Sischou Bayou", and thought that was a good place to turn into the National Forest land.

This "bayou" area is where the White River kinda gets all swampy. I took the trail as far as it would go into the valley, but didn't have the cajones to try to make the crossing. Sometimes when I'm alone, I say to myself, "well if I were riding with other people today, I'd try that." This crossing was pretty gnarly though. Don't know that I'd try it, with or without backup.

The state and national forest land have tons of two tracks to get lost on. This area of lower MI doesn't have as many choices as farther North, but there are still many miles of road and trail.
